Wow, I can’t believe I am turning 25. I know to some of you that may seem young, but I still remember being 15 and thinking what is my life going to be like at 25 and how far away it seemed. Time sure does fly by, but I can honestly say that I have few regrets. Although I haven’t accomplished every goal I wanted to, I am more than on my way.

Here is a list of everything I am thankful for in no particular oder:

My Family – I have a solid relationship with my folks and my sister. Althought I live 3,000 miles away, thanks to modern technology I feel like I can keep in touch with ease. Both my parents are healthy, employed, and happy. My sister just returned from a study abroad program and Italy and is about to go into her senior year of college. Exciting stuff.

My Girlfriend - It isn’t often in life that you meet someone who you are so compatible with. I am lucky to have found my girlfriend so early in life. Almost 3 years later we are still going strong and we continue to grow closer with every passing day.

My Dog – Boomer is one of the coolest dogs you can have. He’s a little guy but acts like a tough guy. He can just as easily tear apart a stuffed toy as lie down next to you to watch tv.

My Friends - Old friends and new friends, it is great to have relationships with people who always keep you on your toes. Everyone I know adds something to my life either by challenging me to be better, or by giving me a good laugh.

My Freedom - I was finally able to get out of wage slavery. Even today as I am writing this, I realize how lucky I am to take the day off without having to answer to anyone but myself. For once I feel like I am ahead and don’t have to stress over paycheck to paycheck living.

My Hobbies - After years of sacrifices I am finally at a place in my life where I can get back into my hobbies. In particular, I learned how to ride a motorcycle and got myself a scooter to scoot around the rolling streets of San Fran. I am even getting back into dancing, this time house instead of breakdancing. Hopefully I will be able to combine popping, breaking, and house and create my own style.

Life is good

Originally I wanted to say affiliate marketing is like gambling, but I think saying affiliate marketing is like poker is a lot more accurate. I have been working on making money using AM for some time now, and the longer I stay in the game the more I realize what the industry really is like. In college I used to have friends who got into poker, and I would watch them stay up all night playing poker coming home with huge sums of money one day and with huge debt the next.

The following is a list of how affiliate marketing mirrors the poker industry.

Gurus Both affiliate marketing and gambling have their gurus. These are people who claim to be the best. Sometimes they really are good, but many times they had one success and because of their vocal nature get tons of publicity and ride the wave. Most of these guru’s don’t even practice what they preach, but make their money from selling “education” to n00bs and the like.

Heroes These are the guys who aren’t selling anything, but are people you can look up to. In both affiliate marketing and gambling there are a few guys who trully are great at what they do. They serve as the driving force behind your own addiction with thoughts like … “If he can do it, why can’t I.”

Money Distribution Just like poker in affiliate marketing there are only a small number of super affiliates who can make large sums of money doing what they do. The rest of us are barely making ends meet and many end up loosing tons of money.

Adrenaline When you launch a new campaign your heart races same as when you throw in a stack of chips. The addreneline is the reason most of us do it and is why both industries are male dominated.

The more I stay in this industry the more I realize that affiliate marketing is just poker. You don’t know what cards your competitors are holding. At the end of the day someone is going to walk away with the pot while the rest of us will put our tail between our legs and come back the next day to try it all again.

At the end of the day no matter how much you know, strategies, techniques, tips, etc the only thing that can help is LADY LUCK. All you can do is give yourself the best chance of getting lucky.

If you ask any of my friends, I was never a fan of dogs. In fact, you can say that I hated dogs. When I was young I got bit by a bid dog which scarred me for a while. There area also some dog habits that used to drive me nuts including drooling, sniffing crotches, jumping up on people, and shedding. Why would anyone put up with a dog from picking up poop, to feeding every day, to grooming, and the list goes on and on.

My girlfriend has finally convinced me to get a dog. And I can say that I am a proud new dog owner of a new chihuahua jack russel named Boomer.

We got this little guy from a dog rescue called Wonder Dog Rescue. He came from Los Banos and is probably about a year old. After a week I can see why people put up with dogs. I won’t lie, I love being a new dog owner. I work from home, so having a dog around has really helped me get through the day. For example, when things aren’t going well and I start getting pissed the little dog looks up at me and cocks its heads and reminds me that this shit doesn’t matter.

I also quit smoking a few years ago and realized that having a dog is a nice replacement. What do I mean by that? Well, the best part about smoking is the people you meet. You go outside for a smoke and can start a conversation with almost anyone. Dogs are the same, other dog owners will talk to you instantly, heck even people who don’t have dogs will talk to you when you got a cut dog like Boomer.

It may seem like this world is full of dog owners, but there are still many dogs that don’t have a home. If you have room in your heart and your home I recommend you become a new dog owner as soon as possible.
